The fact that you are here reading this blog post means that you think PR has benefits for your business – and you would be right!
Here are the top 3 benefits that PR can give you and your business:
You and your business get a ‘badge of honour’
When you are getting media coverage, you are getting the endorsement and the ‘rubber stamp of approval’ from the media in question. It is a stamp of credibility to say that you know your stuff and they have picked you, your story or your expertise to feature on their channel.
There are so many options of other people they could feature, so the fact that they have picked you is a massive bonus as it allows you to stand out amongst the crowd of other businesses. You can then also use the logos of the media as a ‘badge of honour’ which is a huge advantage as it gives you a major credibility boost.
I was featured in The Guardian and The Metro and I shared two posts on my social media to share that I had been featured. These two posts had the most views and interactions out of any of my posts that I have ever shared, really boosting my engagement!
Major search engine optimisation benefits
When you get media coverage and it includes a link to your business it really helps boost your SEO. Google ranks websites in terms of domain authority and when you get a link from a website that has a great domain authority, that then helps Google to rank your website higher. All the national newspapers have a domain authority of 90/100 – getting a link from one of these outlets is like gold dust!
When I was in The Metro, I had a link to my website – and they have a domain authority of 93/100! So by The Metro featuring me it gave me that link ‘juice’ which is then added to my domain authority and shows Google that I have credibility and will more likely show my website pages and posts up in their search feeds. I got a link from The Guardian too and their domain authority is 95/100.
It allows you to get your message and your story in order
You are going to invest time in developing your story and your messages to get them really nailed down and succinct, so you can pitch for opportunities when you need to. This is priceless as once you have done this, you can use this across all of your social media/other platforms to introduce yourself. In order to pitch for PR opportunities we have to have full clarity on what we are trying to say. So the process of getting yourself PR ready, allows you to be in an amazing position for multiple areas of your business.
