Are you wanting to try to nab some PR opportunities before the end of 2021? Then I have 4 PR tactics that are working RIGHT NOW!
1. Christmas is HOT
Do you have any Christmas gift related products? The gift guides are still being compiled and there are still plenty of requests on #journorequests for products and samples. A lot of the Nationals have Christmas gift guides online so the deadlines are not as long as if they were in print.
If you are a product based business do still look out for those opportunities as they are still there.
There are still ways you can get a mention for your business in features that are not directly business related. Recently I saw a request for women over 35 sharing their favourite Christmas traditions! There are plenty of features out there that will relate to you and your life and that others can identify with.
These opportunities won’t be around forever though so go, go, go!
2. Events are back on!
I went to the launch event for She Can Propser, which is a campaign to empower women to understand and manage their own finances, rather than relying on anyone else to do it for them. It was so good to back at an event, seeing the name badges, the tea and coffee – we even had lunch which was lovely!
In-person events are now back and bigger than ever. Yes we all love Zoom, live videos, don’t get me wrong, but you cannot beat in person connections and events (you may need to brush up on your elevator pitch as the inevitable question “so what do you do?” will pop up multiple times during the day).
So anything that you can consider doing in-person is a great opportunity.
The elephant in the room is still lingering, which is about whether or not we will have another lockdown, so have online options as a back up just in case.
Another opportunity is by events being back on, they are looking for speakers, so have a look around and see what opportunities are out there for doing some public speaking in your area of expertise to get your voice heard.
3. Eco/Sustainability/Environmental Stories
Since COP26 in Glasgow, there has been a massive focus on sustainability and the environment.
If you have an angle in your business that is eco-friendly or sustainable then you should really think about tweeting a lot about it using those hot hashtags!
Journalists are watching Twitter for things about the COP26 event and if you have a sustainable or environmentally-themed story or product then that is such a hot topic at the moment and you can really capitalise on that. Use this event as a way to get your message out there!
4. Feel good local stories
Don’t forget that your regional and local media (radio, TV, print, online) are always looking for great stories that are relevant to your location.
Make sure you have good photography and your media bio is ready to go and you can always make an impact in your community.
